Bookbusters!!!

Bookbuster Plays!

In Bookbusters we are writing our own plays. My group is doing Rapunzel. I am playing Rapunzels mum. I have to wear a costume. It is going to be the dress I got for my birthday.

Hokowhitu Bookweek work

On Wednesday Mrs Handcock, Miss Yeo took 3 bookbusters to help set up a display in the Palmerston North City Library. This was a display of work done by students from lots of different classes during bookweeks. Have a look at the photos to see what was put up. OR better still, go and see for yourself at the library. The display boards are by the childrens section issuing desk!

Bookweeks!!!!

During the last two weeks of Term 2 it was Bookweeks at Hokowhitu School. We had many competitions and activities happening that related to books and reading. Here are three Bookbusters’ memories of their favourite experiences during Bookweeks!

In Bookbusters we helped organise Bookweeks. We had to make posters telling people about bookweeks and we reviewed lots of different books so that we could tell other people why we liked them. My favourite book is Harry Potter. I like them because they are big chapter books and fun to read. I like watching the Harry Potter movies knowing the story because I have read the book.

During Bookweeks we got to have a Teddy Bears picnic. I liked it because we got to play games like Guess Who. We got prizes for coming to the picnic and doing all the games and competitions. We also got to read to the Kiwi Team. That was fun. I read them the story book ‘Kisses are Yuck’. This was a silly and funny story!!

I liked Bookweeks because you are able to read new things. You get to look at books in ways that you haven’t before. The thing I remember the most about bookweek is being dressed up as Grace O’Mally Irelands Pirate Queen, showing everyone the book that showed her history and firing my fake gun!!! I liked it when lots of people came and read different stories to us each day. We got hear so many stories about people from history to interesting book characters. Bookweeks had many exciting, weird, silly, amazing and funny experiences.
